ZombiesWhen I was a kid, my brother and I would root through our Halloween candy after a fierce night of trick or treating to identify the best of the stash. In short order we downed our favorite treats and entered…Zombieland – a mythical place brought on by a combination of hard candy, chocolates and post-Halloween excitement. The feeling was a bit like to listening to Johnny Cash sing “Sunday Morning Coming Down” – bitter, but sweet nonetheless.
So, it was with great happiness that I learned about this year’s “Zombie Walk” starting at Heritage Square in front of the Arizona Science Center at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 30. To have the chance to roam the streets of downtown moaning “brains” without being arrested is something to be excited about. After all, this is a chance to re-live the Zombieland of my youth without feeling like I’m going to spew an assortment of candy corn at any given moment. Plus, there’s always the possibility that the entire parade could re-enact the “Thriller” video in tribute to M.J. or at least give a gentle nod to M.J. Fox’s “Teen Wolf.”
These Zombies are organized. They even have their own My Space page where you can check out the details. The walk will start up at 6 p.m. and parade through downtown ending at Friday’s Front Row at Chase Field. Oh, and it’s free too.
