2013 Mardi Gras Parade Map_v2The third annual Mardi Gras is rolling through Downtown this Saturday with bells, brass bands and beads. Lots and lots of beads.
The parade kicks off at 4 p.m., but the best spots to watch the giant puppets, floats, bicycle brigades, dancers, beauty queens and more will go quickly, so you’ll want to get Downtown early.
If you want a shot at the thousands of beads being tossed from floats, your best bet is grabbing a spot on the sidewalk along the route.
If sipping a cocktail while watching the krewes march past is more your speed, you’re in luck. Seamus McCaffrey’s and Bonjour Vietnam‘s patios are front and center on Monroe Street while Fuego CityScape, Arrogant Butcher and The Strand are prime locations on First Street. For a bird’s eye view, head to Tilted Kilt or Copper Blues.
Whether you end up watching from a restaurant or on the sidewalk, laissez les bons temps rouler!
