Year End Shindigs and Extravaganzas in Downtown Phoenix

With free light rail service from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., there’s never been a better time to come Downtown to experience the plethora of shindigs, dinners and entertainment kicking off the New Year. That being said, this New Year’s Eve, be sure to put on your best wares and come to the Urban Core for one (or more!) of these holiday celebrations.
CityScape – CitySkate Ice Rink
Celebrate the New Year with a spin around the rink! The CityScape ice skating rink the is the perfect prelude to a midnight toast, and a great way to spend New Year’s Eve with the family. The rink will be open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission is $12 and includes rentals. Discounts available.
Coach’s Corner Grill – Rio de Janeiro New Year Ball Drop and End of the Year Happy Hour
Join Coach’s Corner for a special New Year happy hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a complimentary food buffet as well as food and drink specials. The party continues well into the night with $2 tacos and enchiladas, and $3 AMF, Fireball and Dos XX. And of course, it wouldn’t be a New Year’s celebration without a champagne toast at midnight!
Copper Blues – Sideshow New Year’s Eve Extravaganza
While you sip on one (or more) of the 60 beers they have on tap, enjoy live Sideshow Circus Acts “you’ll have to see to believe,” live music by The Instant Classics, and a midnight champagne toast. Tickets are $25 and include entertainment and the champagne toast. VIP tickets are also available. Doors open at 5 p.m.
Crescent Ballroom – New Year’s Eve “Amateur Night”
Enjoy music by Sean Watson, DJ Kris The Fist, 2TONEDISCO, deauxyeau, and The Holy Coast inside, or head outside and check out the new outdoor disco tent with DJ Roach and DJ Dana for what they’re calling, “The biggest New Years Eve party in Downtown Phoenix.”
District American Kitchen and Wine Bar – New Year’s Eve Dinner
Ring in the New Year with a special and decadent five-course menu complemented by live jazz. The first seating is from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is $59. The second seating from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. is $75 and includes a champagne toast. Wine paring is also available at each seating for $25.
Dress your favorite decade and get a Deuce off your favorite cocktail all night. Midnight breakfast specials including hot cereal bar on the house. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the music goes live at 7 p.m. No cover.
GypsyBar – “Drop the Ball” New Year’s Eve Party
GypsyBar is celebrating the New Year with complimentary party favors and a champagne toast as well as a midnight ball drop and confetti explosion. The party starts at 8 p.m. and will also have a 2-hour hosted call bar ($30) and New Year’s Eve buffet ($20). No cover.
Japanese Friendship Garden – Kadomatsu Workshop 2013
This fun and family friendly workshop is a wonderful way to bring in the New Year. All plant materials needed to make the Kadomatsu are included in the workshop price and come from the garden itself. Lustre Rooftop Garden – Legendary New Year’s Eve Party
Celebrate the memories of 2013 under the stars and with perfect views of Downtown Phoenix at Lustre’s Legendary New Year’s Eve Party. Province Restaurant – New Year’s Eve Dinner
Embark on a four-course New Year’s Eve dinner that infuses Latin-inspirations into each culinary creation. The first seating is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is $49 per person. The second seating is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is $65 per person. Each dinner includes a champagne toast.
San Carlos Hotel – Special room rates
Avoid driving and walk to the nearby historic San Carlos Hotel, which is offering half off regular room rates in celebration of the New Year. They have a single queen bed at $79.50/night, two double beds at $94.50/night.

Randall Craig Fleischer, a Leonard Bernstein fellow, conducts The Phoenix Symphony in the Valley’s most popular New Year’s Eve celebration. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $30-$99.
