Let’s be honest: Wearing pajamas in public is everyone’s ultimate dream. (Okay, maybe not everyone.)
But there is one time of the year when it’s socially acceptable to wear your jammies outside the house: PJs in the Park.
A double-feature holiday movie screening, PJs in the Park has become a Downtown Phoenix tradition and it’s happening again this Friday, Dec. 2 in Civic Space Park.
This year, bring your blanket, a chair and some Christmas cheer, and cozy up to watch Disney’s The Polar Express at 5:30 p.m. followed by National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation at 7:30 p.m.
Presented by Downtown Phoenix Inc. and the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, PJs in the Park is free with three food donations to St. Mary’s Food Bank — meaning your attendance helps to feed a family or individual in need this Christmas.
And if that doesn’t give you the warm and fuzzies, snuggling up in your PJs while eating popcorn, drinking hot chocolate and watching movies under the stars certainly will.
Though the weather outside isn’t frightful, it can be a bit chilly this time of year. So dig out the flannel PJs hiding in the back of your closet and bring plenty of fuzzy things to stay warm like hats, coats, gloves, big socks and an extra blanket.
And to make the night even more memorable, Santa Claus will be making a surprise visit at the end of The Polar Express. (Shhh… Don’t tell the kids!) So be sure to bring your camera or cellphone to get Selfies with Santa as he takes present requests and spreads cheer throughout downtown.
