Complete with twinkling lights, long rows of tables draped in white, and the soft glow of candles — Noche en Blanco is the kind of picnic dreams are made of. And it’s all for a great cause.

On Saturday, Oct. 28, hundreds of people dressed in white will come together for a picnic under the stars benefitting the future of Margaret T. Hance Park. The event is hosted by the Hance Park Conservancy, which helped develop the Hance Park Master Plan.

Created by an international design team and unveiled in 2016, the $118 million plan is a really big deal for Phoenix.

Ultimately, its goal is to turn Hance Park into a signature destination, much like Central Park in New York City or Millennium Park in Chicago. There are plans for a zip line, performance pavilion, splash pads, restaurant, water features and more.

World’s best backyard? We think so.

The three-phase master plan may take 10 years or more to complete, and fundraisers like Noche en Blanco are the first step in making that bigger dream a reality.

Inspired by the Le Dîner en Blanc, which originated in Paris, Noche en Blanco invites guests to enjoy a classy evening, dining under the stars. Guests can bring their own feast, or enjoy a gourmet pre-ordered dinner catered by The Dressing Room ($28 for two people). Bottles of wine and bubbles, including some from Arizona vineyards, can be ordered in advance. Local craft beer will be available for purchase during the event.

Between sips and bites, guests can enjoy live music, dance performances, and make a toast with Mayor Greg Stanton at sunset. And for all the designers and fashionistas out there, expect prizes for the best dressed and best table setting. The event is family-friendly and open to people of all ages.
