Biking through Downtown Phoenix is easier than ever with recent bike lane projects connecting the city’s parks, neighborhoods and businesses. The additional space for bicyclists has brought an ensemble of bike groups that meet up for weekly or monthly rides.
Many of these bike groups are for riders of all ages and experience levels, making it a great way to get to know the downtown community and experience new parts of your city.
Here are a few bike meetups in downtown you should check out:

Downtown Pedal Around
Take a nice Sunday evening cycle with a community group ride brought to you by Downtown Phoenix Inc., the Phoenix Spokes People and Grid Bike Share. The group meets once a month on third Sundays in Civic Space Park and leaves at 5 p.m. for a one-hour bike ride through the city.
After the ride, the group will grab a bite to eat at a local favorite like The Dressing Room or Cornish Pasty.
However, a special Downtown Pedal Around will take place on Nov. 19 — and it involves pie! To make time for pie, the group will be meeting for the community bike ride at 1 p.m. in Civic Space Park. Then, they’ll be headed to the 8th Annual Pie Social in Hance Park for pie samples and live music.
Phoenix Downtempo Ride
This fun group meets every Monday at 7 p.m. in Civic Space Park for their “lit” bike ride. Phoenix Downtempo Ride encourages all riders to bring along lights, locks and money for food and drinks.
The destination restaurant is different each week, so be sure to check out the event page for more details.
Crescent Community Bike Ride
Enjoy “Bikes, Balcony & Beers” every Thursday at Crescent Ballroom. Meet at the downtown hotspot at 8 p.m. to roll out and explore. Then, get food and drink specials and mingle with fellow cyclists.
Bicycle Nomad PhotoRide
Bicycle Nomad Café in Downtown Phoenix hosts a variety of bicycle-related activities throughout the year.
Located on Garfield and Second streets, this cyclist’s destination sells food and drinks, and is located inside The Velo bike shop. Bicycle Nomad also hosts a monthly PhotoRide with some of the best photographers in the city. If you don’t have a bike, you can always rent one from Grid Bike Share, just make sure you’ve created an account beforehand at www.gridbikes.com or download the Social Bicycles mobile app.
