If you’ve ever complained that there’s nothing fun to do, then you obviously haven’t experienced fall in Downtown Phoenix. With its beautiful days, cool nights and abundance of family-friendly events, fall is the season to Live It Up in DTPHX.
When there are so many things to choose from, sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin. Thankfully we did the legwork for you and found nine November events that you definitely need to add to your calendar.
1. City Lights Movie Nights featuring La La Land: Friday, Nov. 10 / CityScape Phoenix
Snuggle up under the stars to enjoy the hit movie-musical “La La Land” at CityScape Phoenix. Bring friends, family, a chair or a blanket and enjoy free family-friendly activities and performances before the movie begins. 6:30 to 9 p.m. Free.
2. Phoenix Fan Fest: Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 11-12 / Phoenix Convention Center
Geek out at the ultimate fandom experience — two days jam-packed with comics, creators and collectibles. Shop for one-of-a-kind geeky gifts, meet some of your favorite authors, comic artists and TV stars. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. 15+.
3. New Times’ NovemBEER Festival: Saturday, Nov. 11 / 100 N. First Street
Taste beers from dozens of local and national breweries while enjoying live entertainment and Phoenix’s best weather of the year. General admission tickets get you 30 samples. Food and other goodies will be for sale inside. This is a 21+ event. 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. $25+.
4. Arizona Hip-Hop Festival: Saturday, Nov. 11 / Comerica Theater
When Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton proclaims a holiday in honor of your festival, you know you’re hip (hop). Celebrate all facets of hip-hop culture including rap, dance, art and fashion. More than 250 artists will be performing and sharing their talents. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. $16.50
5. Grand Avenue Festival: Saturday, Nov. 11 / Historic Grand Avenue
Experience the quirky and colorful character of the Grand Avenue neighborhood. Enjoy a recycled fashion show, trashy hat promenade, architectural tours and more. 11 .a.m. to 10 p.m. Free.
6. Phoenix Pizza Festival: Friday, Nov. 18 / Margaret T. Hance Park – East
If there was ever a good time to stuff your face — this would most definitely be it. Sink your teeth into $2-$4 slices of delicious pizza from 15 pizza makers. Enjoy live bands, games, desserts, local vendor marketplace, kid’s zone, adult beverages and more. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. $10 entry plus cost of slices.
7. Roosevelt Home Tour: Sunday, Nov. 19 / Roosevelt Historic District and Neighborhood
Get a rare glimpse inside some of the oldest — and most beautiful — surviving residences in Phoenix’s historic Roosevelt Neighborhood. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. $13 early bird. $16 day of event.
8. Downtown Pedal Around – Pie Social Edition: Sunday, Nov. 19 / Civic Space Park
Pedal your way to Margaret T. Hance Park for an afternoon of pie eating, music, art and merriment. Ride leaves from Civic Space Park and tours through the historic neighborhoods in Downtown Phoenix, ending at the 8th Annual Pie Social. 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Free to attend. Pie tasting tickets are $15 for five tickets, or bake and bring two pies to exchange for five tickets.
9. 8th Annual Pie Social: Sunday, Nov. 19 / Margaret T. Hance Park – West
Make sweet memories by enjoying dozens of delicacies baked by 16 celebrity chefs and community members alike to benefit the Bioscience High School arts program. Also on the menu: collaging with Cut Paste PHX, kid-friendly activities from Phoenix Center For The Arts, a raffle and more. 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Free to attend.
