On November 22nd, Downtown Phoenix will play host to the 2010 Miss Black Arizona Teen and Miss Black Arizona Scholarship Pageants at the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe Street. And what a special night this will be!
My Web site – PhxSoul.com – is proud to be a media sponsor of this phenomenal occasion. I’ve never been big on pageants, but I served as a judge last year and was truly blown away by the entire experience!
In a day when we see so many negative images of black girls and women in the media, it is especially refreshing to be in the presence of these beautiful, talented and intelligent African American ladies (ranging in age from 13 to 27) from Arizona. It’s encouraging to know that we have teenagers and young adults who are striving to do good in this world!
For me, the talent portions of the Miss Black Arizona competitions are the most interesting because they really separate the “girls from the women.” You can really see who’s going through the motions and who wants to WIN!
This year promises to be more exciting because the organizers and sponsors of the 2010 Miss Black Arizona Scholarship Pageant are hosting festivities throughout the weekend of November 20-22. I encourage you to support the contestants as they vie for the scholarships, prestige and the crowns!
