Walkability means good urban design
Downtown Phoenix is one of the only walkable neighborhoods in Phoenix, with an inviting mixture of ground-floor retail, shaded street trees and open spaces. Getting around by foot, bike, scooter or public transit is fun, convenient, healthy and sustainable. But if you need to commute by car, we’ve got parking too.
Check out our Downtown Phoenix map to get where you want to go.
There are more than 25,000 parking spaces in downtown, making it a very car-friendly city center. To find parking near your destination, visit the Map and select Category — Parking. In addition to public garages and surface lots, there are numerous parking meters, which are enforced every day including weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information on City of Phoenix parking meters, click here.
Light Rail & Buses
Using public transportation to get to, from and around Downtown Phoenix is the easiest and most affordable option. Visit Valley Metro for routes and schedules.
Grid Bike Share
Grid is the official bike share partner for Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa, and it operates in Scottsdale too. Go to the website or download the Social Bicycles App and start riding. Pay-as-you-go starts at just $0.12 per minute, with monthly memberships up to $25, depending on how much you ride.
An e-scooter pilot program is currently underway in Downtown Phoenix. The program’s geographic boundary stretches from Seventh Street to Seventh Avenue, McDowell to Buckeye roads, with a triangular section to the west including Grand Avenue. Scooters that are rented through companies like Bird, Lime and Spin must be parked in one of the nearly 400 designated parking zones — sectioned off with white poles. Locations can be found in the scooter vendor apps.
