Pull up your bootstraps
and put on your work gloves.
It’s time to get outside and start making a difference in Downtown Phoenix. By knitting together the efforts of neighborhood groups, city leaders, nonprofits and community advocates, we can build the downtown we want — and have a great time doing it.
DIY Downtown is a collection of awesome seasonal events, civic engagement activities, downtown networks and volunteer opportunities. Whether you just want to ride your bike more or help shape alternative transportation policy, there are so many ways to get plugged into the issues you care about.
Here are some of our favorite upcoming community-based events:
A weekly, non-competitive walk/run with great raffle prizes and attendance incentives. Flexible self-check-in times between 5:15pm and 6:30pm. Free
Watch a group of talented, design-oriented locals race homemade, tricked out pinewood cars. Free.
Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast of mesquite flour pancakes and learn about native, edible trees. 9am-12pm. $12+.
Celebrate jazz across the globe right here in Phoenix with great music, food, drinks and dancing. 4-10pm. $25+.
Hang out with the dogs from Arizona Animal Welfare League featuring music, food trucks and games. 11am-1:30pm. Free.
Bring your picnic blankets and chairs for a night of fun under the city lights, happening every month downtown. 6:30pm. Free.
Toast the new headquarters of Downtown Phoenix Inc. and learn about the DTPHX Ambassadors, engagement opportunities and more. 12-2:30pm. Free.
