Phoenix Community Alliance Enhances Governance with New Board Member Additions
Phoenix Community Alliance (PCA), Downtown Phoenix’s premier advocacy leadership organization, added three new board members, further diversifying the voices at the table and advancing its mission to activate, advocate, and build going into 2025.
The appointees include Amy Schaumberg, owner of A. Marie Studio, and Kristin Gubser, associate vice president of workforce strategies and external affairs at Gateway Community College, and Faith Burton, director of special projects at Arizona Center.
Each new board director brings a distinct perspective — from small business operations to innovation in education and commercial development — all with a specific emphasis on Greater Downtown Phoenix. PCA’s Board Nominating Committee thoughtfully selected the three appointees as active and engaged stakeholders dedicated to the growth and revitalization of Downtown.
"These leaders blend institutional knowledge with contemporary ideas that will accelerate Downtown Phoenix’s business community forward,” said PCA Board Chair Diane Haller. “Each year brings new challenges, and we’re strongly equipped to drive the change we envision.”
Directors are the most visible representatives promoting organizational values to the public and bringing fresh, diverse perspectives. Although PCA’s Executive Committee sets the direction of the organization’s advocacy, the Board of Directors focuses on big-picture ideas and new challenges facing Downtown.
The board is directly responsible for developing initiatives that support the organization’s current and future goals. Last year, the board advised the creation of targeted workgroups that support the efforts of PCA’s eight advocacy Committees. One of these workgroups stemmed from PCA’s Arts, Culture & Public Life Committee, which is now responsible for devising solutions to improve the overall guest experience for patrons attending performances, concerts, games, and more Downtown.
The Committees' public policy goals for 2025 focus on advocating for legislative reforms to state laws to boost the supply of for sale attached housing in Downtown Phoenix, supporting the continuation of the Arizona Department of Housing, and promoting initiatives that enhance multi-modal transit options through Greater Downtown Phoenix.
