Pet Amenities in Downtown Phoenix

We know finding a fun place to hang out with your pup can be ruff — especially if you’re unfamiliar with the destination’s rules and doggie amenities. Luckily, Downtown Phoenix has several amenities for our canine friends, including Doggie Waste Stations, Dog-Friendly Restaurant Patios, and Downtown's first dog park, The Thelda Williams Memorial Paw-Pup Park.

The Thelda Williams Memorial Paw-Pup Park was brought to life in 2018 by the nonprofit Downtown Phoenix Inc., the City of Phoenix, and PetSmart Charities as a much-needed amenity for our growing Downtown neighborhood. Dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcome.

The park is dedicated to longtime Phoenix councilwoman, interim mayor, and pet-lover, the late Thelda Williams.

A Luhrs That Was Lost: The Downtown Hotel That Almost Became a Movie Studio

The Luhrs name adorns the twin skyscrapers that have anchored Downtown Phoenix along Jefferson Street since the Roaring ‘20s. The 10-story Luhrs Building was recently transformed into the hip Moxy Phoenix Downtown hotel. A decade earlier, the ground-floor cocktail bar Bitter & Twisted, which is not affiliated with the Moxy, had brought fresh life to the building, which is connected to the 14-story Art Deco Luhrs Tower via an arcade.
