Our president and CEO, Devney Preuss, couldn't have said it better. 🌆

We thought this stunning photo by @reminiscement was a perfect reminder of how beautiful and strong our city is, and a great chance to share our perspective on how Downtown Phoenix is doing one year into the pandemic.

In the past year, a number of small businesses have had no choice but to close, either temporarily or permanently. Hundreds of events were canceled, and major entertainment venues were shuttered. Most downtown employees began working from home, and have yet to return to the office.

But one thing never ceased. Downtown’s momentum over the past decade helped position Phoenix’s urban core as one of the hottest development areas in Arizona — and it continues to rise through these trying times.

We're getting through this together, and it's been incredible to see the outpouring of support for our community. 🥰

Next time you're strolling through downtown, be sure to meander your way over to the Historic Heritage Square and visit the Memorial Rose Garden. 🌹👉 Dedicated on May 7, 1985, this stunning garden tucked along the west and south sides of The Carriage House, was dedicated "in memory of all who have loved and cared for Phoenix past, present and future."

These gorgeous rose blossoms won't be around for long though! 🥀 DTPHX Ambassador, Sergio Ramirez, had a chance to chat with Heritage Square gardeners in early March. Sergio learned that, "...typically the garden blooms at the end of March into early April." Check out his photo [3] of the garden earlier this month in contrast to now. 👀

It's tips like these from our hardworking @phxambassadors team that helps make exploring downtown that much more special. 🗺️👋 Say hey next time you see their iconic orange jackets.... You never know what beautiful direction they might point you in!
