🎉The Renaissance Hotel was awarded the inaugura 🎉The Renaissance Hotel was awarded the inaugural Family Friendly Hotel Award after creating a lactation room within the vicinity for expectant and nursing mothers. Affectionately called the Milk Den.

The award was presented in partnership with @mayorkategallego, @visitphoenix and us, Downtown Phoenix Inc. ❤️

"After my son was born, one of my first meetings off-site was an all-day conference at a local hotel. I really struggled while I was there to effectively express milk for my son with no lactation room provided for attendees,” said Sara Scoville-Weaver, business development director of Downtown Phoenix Inc.

Struggling to find a cool and comfortable place, she realized many women who work or visit downtown hotels for conferences or meetings must face the same problem.

“I decided that we could do better and began to envision a type of program that would incentivize and recognize our wonderful downtown hotels for implementing more family-friendly initiatives at their locations,” she said.

🎉 Congratulations @renhotelphx 🎉

This morning developers and @cityofphoenixaz hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the one-million-square-foot mixed-use development that will sit adjacent to Civic Space Park and @arizonastateuniversity DTPHX Campus.

Central Station will have two residential towers, retail, restaurants, office space and two levels of parking.

One tower, a 22-story student housing building will be fully furnished and comprised of 655 beds. This component of the Central Station development will also feature residential options ranging from micro studios to four-bedroom units, catering to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as young professionals.

The second, a 33-story residential tower, includes 362 units. All residents will have access to an outdoor amenity deck that includes barbeque grills, fire pits, and a resort-style pool.

“Downtown Phoenix is an entirely different place today than it was just five or six years ago. It is a vibrant urban hub,” said Phoenix Vice Mayor Laura Pastor.

“Every week, new restaurants are opening. New tenants are filling apartments downtown four times faster than anywhere else in the Valley. Central Station is a community that brings even more vibrancy to downtown with diverse housing choices and a variety of uses to meet the needs of those living and working in Downtown Phoenix.”

Central Station is slated to open in 2024.
