602 Mule SMAlthough June 21 is officially the first day of summer, Downtown Phoenix has already experienced triple digits making it summertime in the Valley of the Sun. It doesn’t matter if you’re a native Phoenician or a transplant, it’s indisputable that it gets hot in Phoenix. We all have ways of dealing with the heat, and the most appealing choice of all is a refreshing summer cocktail. Ahhhh!
District American Kitchen and Wine Bar is a destination for those who desire an upscale atmosphere that feels more like a neighborhood bar. Here, locals take a break while delighting in American comfort foods served with a contemporary twist and most importantly, an array of American wines, spirits and brews. In anticipation of the desert’s hotter weather, District American Kitchen and Wine Bar just unveiled a new summer cocktail menu that features twists on favorite and classic libations.
The Moscow Mule is a cocktail that became popular in the United Stated in the 1950s when vodka was widely consumed. The drink has become increasingly popular over the years and this summer, District American Kitchen and Wine Bar will offer the 602 Mule, an Arizona take on the Moscow Mule. The 602 Mule includes Arroyo vodka, squeezed lime, freshly pressed prickly pear and ginger beer. This drink is perfect after a day by the pool and can be purchased at the restaurant for $10.
Another new summer cocktail, the Dirty Local, features Arroyo vodka along with locally sourced ingredients such as Queen Creek olive brine and Queen Creek olives stuffed with Crow’s Dairy goat cheese. Make a date with this cocktail on Friday nights so you can take in the sounds of local DJs at District American Kitchen and Wine Bar. I can’t think of a better way to start the weekend, can you? The Dirty Local is $12.
Beer cocktails are trending high right now, and after a Friday or Saturday night of living it up in Downtown Phoenix, the Red Beer is sure to get you set for Monday. Red Beer is typically just beer with tomato juice. District’s version, however, features Lagunitas Pils Czech Style Pilsner, Hangar One Kaffir Lime Vodka, tomato juice, and cilantro lime salt. Bonus: The cilantro is handpicked from the restaurant’s rooftop garden. The Red Beer cocktail is $8 at District American Kitchen and Wine Bar through the summer season.
Along with the 602 Mule, the Dirty Local and the Red Beer, District American Kitchen and Wine Bar has two other new summer cocktails: the Phoenix “Play on a Manhattan” and the Transfusion Martini. Whatever your preference, there’s a thirst-quenching cocktail waiting for you. Make time to cool off this season and visit District American Kitchen and Wine Bar before summer ends to enjoy these cocktails.
