Limp, shuffle and creep your way to one of the best Halloween events in Downtown Phoenix: Zombie Walk 7.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, thousands of walkers and gawkers will invade Heritage & Science Park for a family-friendly festival and a zombie walk through the streets of downtown led by Grand Marshal John Holmberg of KUPD’s Morning Sickness.
The event gets bigger and better every year, but this may be the gutsiest — and most charitable — one of them all.
Discover what’s new at the seventh annual Zombie Walk:
1. New and Improved Goodwill Zombification Zone

Unleash your inner zombie at the Goodwill Zombification Zone, where you can get the full undead makeover — hair, makeup, clothes and all. Just bring a donation of $5 or five non-perishable food items, all benefitting St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.
2. Zombie Walk 7: The Most Charitable Walk… Ever
stmarys-zombie
In honor of this being the seventh year of Zombie Walk, we’re raising seven tons of food to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. Since the partnership began in 2011, zombies have donated 10,000 pounds of aid for those in need.
You’ve never had to pay for a ticket to Zombie Walk, so help us help those in need by bringing food or cash donations for St. Mary’s Food Bank.
3. Zombie Walk Swag

For the first year ever, we’ll have Zombie Walk T-shirts available for purchase, so you can keep zombies close to your heart — whether it’s beating or not.
4. Party Like the Living Dead at Zombie Ball

Kick off Halloween and Zombie season with the first-ever Zombie Ball Friday, Oct. 16, the weekend before Zombie Walk. From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., fun-hungry zombies will converge at Club Palazzo for a night of dancing, Zombie Circus performances, drink specials, and photo booth opportunities. The night will also feature a costume contest, zomficiation station and midnight Thriller dance.
The event is 21 and over. Pre-sale tickets are available for $10 here, or $15 at the door.
5. Rock Out to a Zombified Alien Ant Farm

Downtown Phoenix Inc. is proud to present headliner Alien Ant Farm on the Rebel Lounge Main Stage. Whether you’re a smooth criminal or an undead music lover, it should be a rocking good time. And, yes, the band will don their best zombie attire.
6. Little Zombie Zone Costume Contest

Don your little one(s) in their Zombie best and bring them to the Little Zombie Zone for a kids only costume contest, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Little Zombie Costume Contest is open to those 12 and under with fun prizes for the winning costumes.
7. Zombie Walk Goes Green
Before they end the world, we think zombies can do their part to save it. This year, Zombie Walk will help divert waste from landfills by offering compost and recycling options. In addition, we’re reducing the use of disposable plastic bottles and cups by using reusable water and beer cups, so you can stay hydrated and stay green at the same time.
And make sure to hobble over to the Goodwill Zombification Zone, where for $5 or five non-perishable food items you can pick up a bag of worn clothing to rip, tear and mangle. You can also get your hair and makeup done to achieve the ultimate zombie look.
Like an infection, Downtown Phoenix Inc. hopes these sustainable initiatives quickly spread to other events around Downtown Phoenix.
