Forget everything you’ve ever heard about chiropractors.
Forget the jokes, forget the stigma, and definitely forget all those episodes of “Two and Half Men.”

Before yesterday I had never visited a chiropractor, and to be honest I generally regarded the profession as a breeding ground for quacks and fraudulent workmans comp claims.
Boy, was I wrong.
Within seconds of meeting Downtown Chiropractic Office Manager Irina Krasnova and Dr. Jeff Jex, I knew my perceptions were about to change dramatically. I took a tour of their newly expanded office, was debriefed on their expansive menu of services, which includes in-house X-rays, and went through their patient processes. (The timing of this assignment was incredibly fortunate given my recent bout with migraines.)
The refurbished office is set up for patients to go from station to station with ease and I noticed foot traffic was exceptionally smooth, adding to the facility’s undeniably positive energy. And while I’m not a huge fan of massages, Downtown Chiropractic’s tables were booked solid and the massage-ees (caution: invented word) were undoubtedly enjoying their treatments.
Krasnova added that Downtown Chiropractic treats a wide variety of patients–everyone from athletes to attorneys–and is one of the only offices Downtown that offer J-TECH, an advanced muscle testing system.
After the tour I spoke with Dr. Jex, a tall drink of water who might be the nicest guy I’ve ever met. He asked me the same question he asks every patient: “So, tell me what you’ve heard about chiropractic, both good and bad. Don’t leave anything out because I’ve probably heard it all and you won’t hurt my feelings.”
I told him horror stories of non-treatment, egregious billing, and insurance hassles. He laughed and assured me that I wouldn’t suffer any such inconveniences. On the contrary, his examination revealed that too many hours of sitting in front of a computer and regrettable posture are surely contributing to my headaches. Unfortunately, he also said that red wine could be a factor. Insert frowny face here.
But the good news is that I am now on a path to improved wellness and I’ll never again doubt the legitimacy of the chiropractic industry.
If you’re a cubicle drone like me and haven’t been looked at by a chiropractor, I strongly urge you to try out Downtown Chiropractic. The entire staff is warm and knowledgeable and there’s a good chance Dr. Jex will identify a problem, sometimes even before you realize there is one.
