Do you need to entertain your in-laws this holiday season? Whether they’re coming in from out of state or simply parking it at your pad to avoid the long drive back to Surprise or Scottsdale there are some great activities and events going on this season in Downtown Phoenix for everyone to enjoy — from the calm and quiet to opportunities to paint the town red.
Phoenix Public Market Urban Grocery and Wine Bar.
Wednesdays 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located at 14 E. Pierce St.
This popular open-air market offers spectacular local shopping  featuring everything from fruits and vegetables to wines, cheeses, meats and artisan breads. And it’s all local!
Catch a Movie for just $5.25 at AMC Theater Downtown
Located at the Arizona Center on 3rd St. and Van Buren.
All shows Monday through Thursday are only $5.25 (excluding holidays, weekday film openings and the 3D Experience). That’s a deal!
Get that hot cocoa or coffee fix at Fair Trade or Cartel Coffee Lab, then take a drive to 1517 E. Brill St. to see Bob Rix’s house with close to 80,000 lights decorating the front and back of the house, along with the inside too. This house is open for you to walk through anytime between 6-10 p.m.  nightly till January 2nd.
ST/BOWLINGBowling at Lucky Strike.
Located at 50 W. Jefferson St., Suite 240. I don’t know one person who doesn’t enjoy a good game of bowling, even sweet old GamGam. Combining elements of a night club, restaurant lounge, sports bar, and bowling alley, Lucky Strike offers a wholly unique scene you can’t find in every city.
Phoenix Suns Games on December 23rd vs. Miami Heat, December 29th vs. Philadelphia Sixers, and December 31st vs. Detroit Pistons. The new-look Suns always put on a good show, but they need more fans cheering them on.
Toast a drink with the in-laws at The Rose and Crown or Seamus McCaffrey’s Irish Pub or both. These two great Phoenix bars, one an English pub and the other an Irish pub, have a great selection of drinks and you are sure to find many locals hanging out late into the night.
Please peruse our online calendar of events for more great ways to occupy those visiting relatives!
