If you’re a theater geek like me, you’ll find the story behind Ten Chimneys rather cool. The Arizona Theatre Company will be bringing this play to the Herberger Theatre beginning February 17.
ten_chimneysBut did you know that Ten Chimneys is an actual theatrical landmark in Wisconsin? It’s where Lynn Fontaine and Alfred Lunt lived and loved in the 1920’s and 30s, kind of the “Brangelina” of their time. Director David Goldstein and playwright Jeffrey Hatcher traveled to Ten Chimneys last December in hopes of gaining insight and inspiration for the play. You can read their interview here.
The ATC cast also traveled to Ten Chimneys during December for a week of rehearsals. They left the Phoenix sunshine for sub-zero temperatures but you gotta figure it was worth it when you got the chance to play Noel Coward’s piano. Read about their adventure and see some fascinating historical photos here.
Ten Chimneys will be in Phoenix from Feb. 17 through March 6. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the Arizona Theatre Company Box Office at arizonatheatre.org.
