UAMedicalWEBOn May 12, the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix celebrated the graduation of the first class of students from the campus located on Van Buren between Fifth and Seventh Streets.  The school opened in 2007 on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus in renovated historic buildings that formerly housed Phoenix Union High School.
The Arizona Republic reports that a crowd of 450 turned out to commemorate the inaugural class and to hear the keynote speaker, Dr. Robert Spetzler, director of the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s hospital.  168 Students were enrolled at the College of Medicine last semester with plans to expand the student body to 410 by 2015.  The College of Medicine is part of the Phoenix Biomedical Campus which is also home to TGEN/IGC and ABC1 and will welcome the Health Science Education Building, scheduled for completion in 2012 and the Arizona Cancer Center.  For more information on the first graduating class of the UA College of Medicine-Phoenix, please visit:  UA Medical School Graduates 1st Phoenix Class
