Local dignitaries gathered Wednesday Aug. 8 to celebrate the groundbreaking of Downtown’s newest housing project. The Lofts at McKinley will be built at the northeast corner of 5th Avenue & McKinley in the historic Roosevelt neighborhood. The 60-unit complex will provide affordable housing to seniors with rents ranging from $490-$900 for qualified residents.
Mayor Phil Gordon and District 7 Councilman Michael Nowakowski were in attendance to commemorate the official start of construction and thank those who made the project possible. The Lofts at McKinley are financed by low-income housing tax credits and HOME funds and being developed jointly by Gorman and Company, the Arizona Bridge to Independent Living, and the Downtown Phoenix Community Development Corporation.
