Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.
RecyclingSince 1997, communities across the country have come together on November 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day. More than a celebration, America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling in the United States. One day to educate and motivate. One day to get our neighbors, friends and community leaders excited about what can be accomplished when we all work together. One day to make recycling bigger and better 365 days a year.
It’s in that spirit that the Downtown Phoenix Partnership, City of Phoenix, and CityScape have joined forces to roll out a new recycling program for Downtown.
Phase I of the program, which is the brainchild of the Downtown Phoenix Clean Team, was rolled out today with nine bins located between 3rd Avenue to First Street and Washington to Monroe.
The City researched trash bin use to determine which corners had the biggest need. Phase II is expected to begin in December.
“The goal of the program is to increase recycling awareness in and around Downtown,” said Downtown Phoenix Partnership Program Coordinator Jovanna Perez. “Eventually we hope to generate a revenue stream that we can then give back to the community.”
The first phase of unmistakeable blue recycling bins (pictured, left, with Clean Team member Cornelius Victor at the SW corner of Adams/Central) can be found at the following locations:
SE corner of Washington/3rd Ave.
2nd Ave. between Washington and Adams (2)
NE corner of Adams /1st Ave.
NE corner of Adams / 2nd Ave.
SW corner of Adams / 1st Ave.
SW corner of Adams / Central
NE corner of Adams / Central
SE corner of Monroe / 1st St.
