Bobb Cooper, producing artistic director at Valley Youth Theatre (VYT) is looking for a few good dogs – two to be exact, one Chihuahua and one bulldog for supporting roles in Legally Blonde The Musical, opening August 10. Auditions are by appointment only on Saturday, July 21 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the VYT theatre.
“Elle Woods’ dog ‘Bruiser’ is a Chihuahua and her friend Paulette has a Bulldog named ‘Rufus’,” said Cooper. “We’d prefer male dogs that are housebroken, even tempered and obedient. If the Chihuahua could bark on command, that would be a plus!”
Dogs must be available to start rehearsing on Monday, July 23. Opening night is Friday, August 10 and the show runs through Sunday, August 26 with school performances on Wednesday, August 15 and 22. Interested pet owners should submit a photo and resume with their dog’s age, name, tricks and disposition when making an appointment to audition with VYT Production Stage Manager Kristian Rarig at kristian@vyt.com.
