The Tour de Light Rail organization is hosting its popular annual charity event for the fourth year.
tourdelightrailThis year’s edition will be called the Tour de Light Rail Concert Crawl as opposed to years past where it has been known as a Pub Crawl. This annual fundraising event has contributed more than $20,000 to local charities in just three years and will benefit the Phoenix Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in 2012. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Tour de Light Rail has partnered with several pubs and restaurants along the light rail line stretching from Central Phoenix to Tempe. The George and Dragon Pub, in Central Phoenix, will kick-off the event while The Macayo’s Depot Cantina, in Tempe, will host the event’s conclusion. Other partnering establishments, such as, Seamus McCaffrey’s, will offer food discounts, drink specials, extended happy hour prices and other deals to patrons that visit their establishment on the day of the event wearing the official event t-shirt. Patrons can look forward to live music from several local bands at each location, such as Valley favorite, Race You There. “We have hundreds of loyal Tour de Light Rail followers and they’ve been asking for more entertainment, so we’re bringing more music as a starter,” said Jake Rashkow, the event’s entertainment coordinator.
Ten percent of the proceeds made from this event benefit the Komen Phoenix Affiliate. The event’s t-shirts will be sold in a special presale that will take place online at www.tourdelightrail.com for $40. Included in the presale package, known as the “Conductor’s Special,” will be a raffle ticket as well as an all-day light rail pass. After the presale ends on September 30th, t-shirts will still be sold online and can also be purchased the day of the event at George and Dragon for $40. Raffle tickets and light rail passes can be purchased separately after the presale ends.
“The economy continues to suffer and so does the non-profit sector,” said Lennox Punch, Event Coordinator with Tour de Light Rail. “The Tour de Light Rail Concert Crawl is a creative way to raise funds to help Komen Phoenix continue to serve the breast cancer community in Central and Northern Arizona.”
