dia-de-los-muertosThe Arizona Latino Arts and Cultural Center (ALAC) is proud to announce the celebration of the ¡Viva La Vida! Día de Los Muertos Inaugural Festival on November 2, 2012 from 3p.m. – 10p.m on Adams St. in front of ALAC.
The inaugural festival will showcase beautifully created altars and an art exhibit by local artists as well as an opening reception to meet the artists in La Galería 147. The tapestry of color, calacas, paper mache masks, and papel picado displays will adorn La Galería 147 and Adams St.
Live art demonstrations, food, live entertainment, traditional music and dance by local performers, children’s activities and community altars will be installed to honor the loss of loved ones. The program also includes Phoenix City Councilman Michael Nowakowski, District 7, who will present awards for the Best Creative Altar, the Best Dressed Katrina and the Best Dressed Calaca.

Be ready to soak in some culture with fun, family entertainment and don’t forget your costumes. Attendees will enjoy live entertainment by Maryvale Mariachi, South Mountain Baile Folklórico, Singer Cesar Chavez Duran, guitar-driven vocal duo – Dos Manos, ASU Theater “Bocon” and Guadalupe Yaqui Cultural Organization Dancers.
