A brand new concept is coming to the former Be Coffee space inside the MonOrchid building on Roosevelt Row. Kähvi Coffee + Cafe will soft open Monday, July 12 at 7 a.m. — offering coffee, beer, wine and light bites.

Featuring a “contemporary meets bohemian” atmosphere, according to a press release, the vision and operation comes from 20-year restaurant veteran Julian Wright of Fork & Dagger Hospitality. This will be Wright’s second Downtown Phoenix concept, following the opening of Luckys Indoor Outdoor in December of 2020.

Wright is launching two additional restaurants inside MonOrchid later this year, including Sake Haus and the third location of Pedal Haus Brewery. Samia Kohler is Wright’s operating partner, with 12 years of food, beverage and events management experience.

Located in the gallery space at MonOrchid, the 2,000-square-foot coffee bar and cafe will feature design elements inspired by Tulum in southern Mexico — including lush greenery, rotating local art, cozy lounge areas, earth and jewel tones.

“When I think of the ultimate getaway, my mind instantly goes to the laid-back beaches of Tulum,” Wright said in a press release. “Combine that with a European-style approach to coffee and dining culture, and you have the perfect retreat in the heart of Downtown Phoenix.”

The word kähvi (meaning coffee) is from the Inarian language, spoken by the indigenous Inari Sami people of Finland. In addition to a very community-centric approach to coffee culture — per capita, the Finns consume more coffee than any other nation in the world, according to the International Coffee Organization.

With that in mind, coffee and community will take center stage, and guests will be able to enjoy seasonal blends with unique flavors, nitro-infused coffee and juices, and ethically-sourced espresso beans from the La Paz region of Honduras.

Light bites and lunch items include salads, sandwiches with a French flair, and fresh-baked pastries from local bakery Hope’s Artisan Bread.

Kähvi Coffee + Cafe will host weekly yoga, live music, arts-centric workshops, and weekday specialties like wine and charcuterie pairings Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m.

Hours: Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Address: 214 E. Roosevelt Street, Phoenix.
