Whether it’s Gentleman Joe’s near Central & Adams, the Downtown Barber Shop in the Hotel San Carlos or Tony’s Barber Shop in the Luhrs Complex, a great shave and a haircut are only a few blocks away. Longtime Downtowner Tony Verdugo, owner of his eponymous shop, has been cutting hair is his one chair spot for more than 40 years.

Each patron has their favorite, and the possibilities are scattered throughout the area. Downtown Salon Phoenix in the Hyatt Regency and Youngblood Haircutters in the Renaissance Hotel have served travelers and Downtowners for years. You have to take an escalator to the second level retail of the Collier Center to find Perry Monge but word is it’s well worth the trip. Downtown’s newest beauty addition, Par Exsalonce at CityScape, is earning rave reviews and making a name for itself despite being open for less than two years.
