The Growth in Downtown Phoenix has been amazing to watch.
New concepts are opening around the city, giving you so many places to explore. It can be hard to keep up with what’s new in town, but luckily, we have a list of the new spots that have recently opened in our neighborhood.
Several pop-up shops and food trucks have found their brick-and-mortar home in Downtown Phoenix, from a chef who made the leap to branch out on his own during the pandemic to a Hawaiian restaurant with a huge local following. Downtown is the place to find your new favorite spot.

This new restaurant, bar and hookah lounge offers Persian cuisine, craft cocktails and a variety of tobacco and hookah options. Owner Ali Yousufzai told Phoenix New Times his mission was to create a comfortable, welcoming space where people “feel at home and experience a different culture.”

Get a taste of Hawaiian fare at this popular new restaurant inside The Churchill. Loco Style Grindz offers platefuls of chicken katsu, teriyaki steak, rice, and macaroni salad.

At NW Coffee, coffee and tea are more than just beverages; they are how you start your morning or serve as a daily pick-me-up. This new coffee shop is located inside Christ Church of the Valley in the Downtown Phoenix Warehouse District. Their menu includes specialty lattes, smoothies, drip coffee, and a variety of fresh pastries.

Move over Willy Wonka, Arizona Center has a new restaurant where everything is chocolate. They have chocolate burgers, sushi rolls, lava cakes, fondue, and a large selection of milkshakes. You can go with their classic options or build your own sweet mountain.

This beloved Austin-based coffee shop opened its first out-of-state location in Roosevelt Row in Downtown Phoenix. Located on the ground floor of the luxury residential complex, Moontower Phoenix, Fleet offers a selection of unique drinks.

This burger pop-up now has a permanent home in Downtown Phoenix. Founded by Pizzeria Bianco and Valentine alum James Piazza, Bad Jimmy’s offers double-stacked smashburgers, house-made pies, wedge salad, fries, and ice cream. Beer, wine, and cocktails are also available.

This Arizona-based specialty coffee roaster has teamed up with Aventura Catering and the Phoenix Convention Center to bring Phoenix locals and visitors high-quality specialty coffee, tea, to-go menu items and more. The new Press Coffee is located on the first floor of the West building at Second and Adams Streets.

Acclaimed chef and Bacanora co-owner Rene Andrade has opened a new restaurant. His highly anticipated taco shop, Huarachis Taqueria, is near Central Avenue and McKinley Street in Downtown Phoenix. The restaurant is casual, with starters, tacos, platters, and sides on the menu.

Brothers Luis and Ramon Osuna opened their first brewery in Hermosillo, Sonora, in 2016 to bring more craft beer options to Mexico. Today, the brewery has grown to include five taprooms in Mexico and now in Downtown Phoenix. Buqui Bichi brews up a selection of beers from a Hazy IPA to a Coffee Stout and a full food menu with burgers, tacos, and appetizers.

Aaron and Jared Pool, the brothers behind Gadzooks Enchiladas & Soup restaurants have opened a new restaurant and bar. You can find Hugo’s Cantina at the corner of First and Garfield Streets. Hugo’s is an Ibiza-inspired cantina with shareable plates like nachos, enchiladas, and tacos.

This highly anticipated retro dance club opens in a historic art-deco building at Seventh Avenue and Van Buren. Inspired by the late 80s-early 90s, the club will host themed parties that will make any Millennial heart sing, from a Lisa Frank rave to old-school hip-hop nights. There’s even a Japanese-style karaoke room inspired by Blade Runner in the basement.

This Downtown staple sushi spot has expanded into a new location with a fresh, contemporary look. Since 2013, Harumi has been serving sashimi, nigiri, izakaya-style fare, and sushi rolls, with an emphasis on fresh fish and their signature purple rice. In addition to a robust food menu, they also serve Japanese beer and sake.

Visitors to the Phoenix Convention Center can now look no further than its West Building for handcrafted, one-of-a-kind, artisan souvenirs from local Phoenix makers. Retail Therapy AZ is a gift shop offering work exclusively from local artisans.

Founded by local nonprofit Archwood Exchange, the ACRES Community Creators Marketplace is the organization’s latest effort to empower our community by developing and supporting local small Black-owned businesses. Located in the Roosevelt Row Arts District in Downtown Phoenix, this store is the home to over 30 local businesses while working towards paving the way for new entrepreneurs and building generational wealth.
