Holiday Movies and Santa: PJs in the Park Returns to Downtown Phoenix Dec. 7

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Downtown Phoenix is teeming with holiday events for everyone — including PJs in the Park. Celebrating its eighth year, PJs brings a free, family-friendly event to Civic Space Park each December.

This year, we’ll be showing “The Polar Express” and “Elf,” perfect for a fun evening out with the family, date night or break from final exams. Arrive early for holiday classics sung by the Dickens Carolers before “The Polar Express” starts at sunset around 5:30 p.m. And keep your eyes and ears open for a special appearance at the beginning of the film.

The jolliest man in Downtown Phoenix, Santa Glenn, will be taking present requests and photos with PJ-clad kids of all ages throughout the night. Remember to bring your own camera or smartphone for pics, as there won’t be a photographer to take your snaps.

Old Saint Nick will hang around until the end of “Elf,” which should wrap up around 9 p.m.

What you’ll need

PJs in the Park takes place on the grass lawn of Civic Space Park, so remember to bring blankets and lawn chairs if that’s what you prefer. You may also need a warm jacket and of course, fun holiday pajamas are always a plus!

Food & drink available for purchase

No need to worry about getting dinner before, we’ll have food and drink options fit for the night. Movie watchers can stay warm thanks to Serafina Coffee Roasters, which will supply hot cocoa, coffee, popcorn and other snacks.

Freak Brothers Pizza will also be at the park serving their delicious pies, fresh from the oven.

Transportation & parking

The easiest, most affordable way to get to Civic Space Park is by Phoenix’s very own Polar Express — the Valley Metro Light Rail. But there’s also an $8-$10 surface lot on the northeast corner of Fillmore Street and Central Avenue, and limited street parking.
