As Downtown continues to grow, so does the reach of the Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH) circulator, a free public transportation option offered by the City of Phoenix.
To better service a growing population and changing needs, the City of Phoenix’s Street Transportation Department began surveying the public on new Downtown routes last fall.
The expansion of the service coalesces around the voter-approved Proposition 104, passed in 2015.
The Transportation 2050 plan is a 35-year investment toward public infrastructure such as bus and light rail service, as well as overall street improvements. Historically, the DASH Government Loop has serviced the Arizona Capitol.
All four suggested Downtown Loop routes expand DASH coverage into high traffic areas and popular destinations, including Arizona Center, Fry’s / Block 23, ASU Downtown, Chase Field and Footprint Center.
The proposed routes would cover 5 to 7 miles and all include service at night and on weekends.
The new Downtown routes are expected to take effect in October.
Downtown residents, students and employees are encouraged to view the four proposed expanded routes and take the survey to express their preferences.
