Since the beginning of May, people in cities all over the country have been sharing photos of their most cherished places on social media with the tag #ThisPlaceMatters.
Launched in 2008 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the “This Place Matters” campaign celebrates historic or old places that play(ed) a meaningful role in our lives and community during Preservation Month (May).

One of my favorite spots in downtown Phoenix is the Orpheum. From watching shows to dancing on the stage, I have so many awesome memories of this historic theater in our downtown. Follow me all month long as I highlight some of the amazing historic places in #dtphx. So excited for a month of #thisplacemattersphx with @thiscouldbephx and @savingplaces.

May is Preservation Month and one of our favorite historic places was built in 1912 and is just steps from our office… Phoenix Union High School Historic District, now part of the University of Arizona Medical Campus. #ThisPlaceMatters #ThisPlaceMattersPHX #dtphx #architecture

This 1890’s beauty is one of the only remaining pieces of Victorian design in Phoenix and it sits vacant and boarded up. Come join us at 11am on 2nd Ave just north of Crescent Ballroom for a quick #instameet to bring some life to this building! We’ll be celebrating #thisplacemattersphx / #thisplacematters and will have props for you to take pictures with. We’ll be there for 45 minutes or so!
