The 2020 Downtown Phoenix Cinco De Mayo Festival scheduled for May 3 has been canceled due to COVID-19. The annual Cinco De Mayo Festival is Phoenix’s longest running event and would have celebrated its 27th year.

The festival organizer, Arvizu Advertising and Promotions, will continue with awarding scholarships to students through Arvizu – Grand Canyon University Scholarship fund, recipients will be announced on May 4.

“Due to the pandemic that has impacted our state and country, the safety and wellness of our community and public is paramount,” stated Ray Arvizu, founder of the Downtown Phoenix Cinco De Mayo Festival and President CEO of Arvizu Advertising and Promotions.

“While we have to cancel this year’s Cinco; our Cinco spirit and community continues with awarding scholarships to students in need. Much thanks and appreciation to our long-standing partners, Helios Foundation, Arizona Lottery, City of Phoenix, Grand Canyon University, APS, Hensley Beverage Company, Red Development and Downtown Phoenix Partnership for their support in continuing our spirit and tradition.

We look forward to a great 2021 Downtown Phoenix Cinco De Mayo Festival.”
