5 Outdoor, Street Activated Events in Downtown Phoenix

The beautiful weather outside reminds us how great it is to be in Phoenix. Luckily, several events have popped up, like spring flowers, to help you enjoy the outdoors. From live music to alfresco shopping, these free, family-friendly, outdoor events showcase the diverse talent of local artists and entrepreneurs.

Live Music Pop-up Series 

The Performance Pop-Up series at Herberger Theater Center is a free outdoor presentation that celebrates the depth, variety, and creativity of Phoenix artists. The series showcases 60-90-minute high-quality music, dance, and theatrical programming held from 6 to7 p.m. on Saturdays in April. After the DTPHX Urban Wine Walk on Saturday, April 22, stop by to see The Jazz DivAZ perform on the stage.

Lunchtime Jazz Performances 

Swing by Patriots Park at CityScape in Downtown Phoenix, April 17-21, to enjoy their Jazz in the Park performance series, featuring a variety of local musicians. Free to attend, the live performances run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. So grab your lunch and join the party to jazz up your day and revel in music enriched with culture and history. Shows include performances by Stone on the Sax, Uptown Sundown, Tatiana Crespo, Johnathan Levy, KapSol, Tina Estes, and Notes from Neptune.

Free Yoga in the Park

Enjoy a free all-level flow yoga class hosted by Orangetheory Downtown Phoenix trainer Amy Charles. Held at Patriots Park at CityScape, get a chance to relax, stretch, and breathe in the fresh air of Phoenix. Bring a yoga mat and water, and get ready to connect with your inner self. Yoga in the Park will be held in Patriot’s Park on Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. through May. Register on Eventbrite.

Sidewalk Saturdays

Every day is a good day to support local, small, and creative. The Churchill makes it easy on Saturdays with their weekly artisan market, Sidewalk Saturday, “where creativity and community collide.” This free outdoor market is held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday on the sidewalk in front of The Churchill at 901 N. 1st St. The market continues through summer but with abbreviated hours. DTPHX Farmers Market

The Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market is a gathering place supporting small farmers and businesses that strengthen sustainable food systems and produce healthy products for the community. With over 80 farmers and vendors selling fresh produce, ready-to-enjoy food, arts, and more, this outdoor event brings more than 3,000 shoppers across the Valley every Saturday to buy locally-grown produce and products. Open rain or shine year-round, you can find it every Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at its new, larger location located within the Phoenix Bioscience Core at 720 N. Fifth Street. Starting May 6, their summer schedule will be 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Saturday.

Wind-Up Wednesday Lunch Hour

Have fun in Civic Space Park with food trucks, music, games, and rotating pop-up activities presented by the City of Phoenix. Beginning May 3 from Noon to 4 p.m., Wind Up Wednesday is your weekly chance to break the monotony of the week and enjoy something new during your lunch hour. You never know what you will Wind Up doing. Admission to the park is free.
