The 11th Annual DTPHX Urban Wine Walk gets uncorked Saturday, April 22, at 1 p.m., but before you and your entourage sip and stroll your way through Downtown Phoenix’s original self-guided wine-tasting tour, here’s what you need to know before you go, A-Z style:

Urban Wine Walk Logo by Quinn Murphy.

A is for Ambassadors. Have a question about Downtown Phoenix or need assistance with directions, parking, or recommendations? The DTPHX Ambassadors have ALL the answers. Look for the orange shirts that say “ASK ME” or call (602) 495-1500. They are the best.

B is for Bougie. It may seem very bourgeoisie, but the DTPHX Urban Wine Walk is actually FREE to attend, and the wine and snack pairings are only $5!

C is for Copper Blues. Come rock out with their delicious wine and snack pairings. Ahi poke bite perfectly paired with the pinot gris, truffle mac & cheese paired with a sauvignon blanc, and white sangria and filet bites paired with the Pinot Noir. We’re ready to rock n’ roll right over.

D is for Downtown Phoenix. You can’t miss the DTPHX Urban Wine Walk! The city will be lively and filled with sommeliers and those who appreciate good wine on a perfect spring day. So please bring your friends, and experience it firsthand. This holiday only comes once a year.

E is for El Zaguan Bistro. They’ll be serving street tacos with their signature birria, al pastor, and chicken tinga paired with 1 of 3 different wines to choose from! Chico Malo will also throw in some delicious Mexican-inspired street food with their Elote with tajin butter, aji mayo, and chili oil.

F is for “For sure!” Which is what your friends will say when you invite them to accompany you on the DTPHX Urban Wine Walk.

G is for Guanajuato. Which is the city where Barcoa Agaveria has sourced two of three of its signature wines. The small bite you’ll receive with your chosen wine will have a tortilla stamped with XICO Arte Y Cultura’s logo. Which is a 47-year-old Latin and Indigenous artist gallery and cultural center on First Avenue and Roosevelt, next door to Barcoa.

H is for “How many glasses of wine?” The DTPHX Urban Wine Walk has 28 participating bars, so as many as you 21+ can responsibly have.

I is for ISO (In Search Of). Your next favorite hangout that you discover during the DTPHX Urban Wine Walk, and a type of wine glass recognized internationally as the standard design for tasting wine.

J is for Just chillin’! Check out the FOUND:RE Phoenix and Match Market & Bar for their frozen blueberry cranberry sangria to cool off. If you want more slushy wines, Dust Cutter at the Renaissance Hotel Phoenix has your back with their Cuvée Lemon Slush.

K is for Key. You won’t need your wine key for this event, but you can pick one up on your travels at Hidden Track Café and Bodega or GenuWine. We know the key to your heart is wine and exploring and trying new things in Downtown Phoenix.

L is for Local Bars. Participating bars are local restaurant concepts and thrive from your support and patronage. Thanks for eating and drinking locally!

M is for Money. All wine and snack pairings will cost $5; we recommend paying in cash to keep lines moving and grooving! Also, please tip your bartenders and servers to show appreciation for their hard work.

N is for No whining! Just kidding, check out The Whining Pig’s selections of wine, meat n’chz, homemade tortilla chips, and a flight of salsas. (But also, do wine!)

O is for Oodles of fun. You’re going to have to attend DTPHX’s Urban Wine Walk to not miss out on a great time. We have some cool DTPHX merch to hand out to those who come early, branded tumbler anyone? We love to provide a fun surprise for those who stick around for a while.

P is for Pinot Grigio. If you love white wines, you’ll love the King Estate Pinot Gris from Wren & Wolf. They are pairing Pinot with spicy meat-a-balls. Yum!

Q is for Quinoa. Hidden Track Café and Bodega will be serving up your choice of a Delicious quinoa salad or a Mediterranean couscous salad, along with some incredible wine pairing at the neighborhood’s favorite bottle shop and eatery that recently added a wine bar. If you stop by during your DTPHX Wine Walk adventure, you can get a 12% discount on a full bottle within the store.

R is for Rooftops. Eden Rooftop Bar at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix will debut on our walk this year, so make sure you get your wine and check out the picturesque city views while you’re at it.

S is for Sushi. Another newcomer to the walk is Trapper’s Sushi. They’ll be serving up Imagery Cabernet paired with two pieces of a Buddha Roll, Daou Rosé paired with two pieces of a Trapper Roll, and Bartenura Pinot Grigio paired with two fried rice squares. Wine AND sushi? You can’t beat that.

T is for Teddy’s Preserve. Another great newcomer to the DTPHX Urban Wine Walk and new to Roosevelt Row, it’s part of the same hospitality group as Rough RiderPigtailsCoabana, and The Whining Pig, which all have locations in the Downtown area. Get your wine in recycled glass bottles and add some garlic-seasoned waffle fries to make your Instagram look like you’re in a dreamy Sundance film.

U is for Unconventional. The DTPHX Urban Wine Walk is a new and different way to see and enjoy the sights of Downtown Phoenix. You’ll get your wine and snacks at this one-of-a-kind event, which changes every year. You will have stories of your adventures with your friends at the DTPHX Urban Wine Walk for years!

V is for Valley Metro. We know you’ll need a ride home, and the Valley Metro Light Rail is a perfect $4 all-day option to take home. You can also check out WAYMO and experience their self-driving cars. The future is now! Please don’t forget that driving impaired is a law violation and dangerous to everyone. Please look out for yourself and the safety of others.

W is for Wine tumbler. To kick off the DTPHX Urban Wine Walk, we are giving away super cool DTPHX-branded Wine Walk tumblers. The first 250 people attending our kick-off at CityScape at 12:30 p.m. will receive a complimentary Wine Walk tumbler. Please use them for boozy fun once you get home!

X is for Xeric conditions. It’s a dry heat, but with refreshing wine! Take advantage of the oasis we have here in Downtown Phoenix. We promise it’s not a mirage.

Y is for Y not? Who can argue with that? So, why not come to the 11th Annual DTPHX Urban Wine Walk?

Z is for Zinfandel. During this year’s Urban Wine Walk, Jacy and Dakota’s will serve a delicious Sonoma-based Zinfandel with refreshing watermelon salad skewers. Be sure to swing by and check them out. They have one of the best Sonoran Desert-inspired patios in town!

So grab your walking shoes, sunscreen, and sense of adventure—we’ll see you out there!
