Details
Alfonso Cuaron’s critically-acclaimed landmark film is structured as a road trip from Mexico City to a paradisiacal beach in Oaxaca, revolving around a love triangle involving the upper-class teenager Tenoch (Diego Luna), his humbler best friend, Julio (Gael García Bernal), and a Spanish visitor, Luisa (Maribel Verdú). Shot with elegance and dexterity by Cuaron’s Oscar-winning collaborator, Emmanuel Lubezki, Y tu mamá también combines raunchy subject matter with emotional warmth, and culminates in a startlingly erotic finale.
Winner of the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice Film Festival and nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards. Recently named to The New York Times’ list of 100 Best Films of the 21st Century.
