DTPHX StoryWalk

There’s a new story coming to Downtown Phoenix’s StoryWalk at the Arizona Center!📚

Join us on Saturday, April 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Grotto at Arizona Center (455 N. 3rd St.) to unveil our new story, “It Started with a P,” by Arizona-based author Brittany Pomales.

Listen to a live reading, walk through 18 pedestals of bilingual storytelling, savor a complimentary treat from Bosa Donuts, get a chance to meet the author in person, and work your creative magic with your very own commemorative coloring book, plus additional giveaway items to take home.

Readings will take place at 9:30 a.m. (read by the author) and 10:00 a.m.

About StoryWalk

Downtown Phoenix Inc. (DPI) manages and maintains the StoryWalk, selecting popular children’s books on a rotating basis. Each book is offered in both English and Spanish, with educational prompts and questions on each page to enhance the shared reading experience.

StoryWalk is one of many new DPI events and projects geared toward families, including Winter Wanderland, DTPHX Lotería, and PJs in the Park.

The StoryWalk movement started in Montpelier, Vt. in 2007 when Anne Ferguson, a specialist in chronic disease prevention for the Vermont Department of Health, partnered with her local library. The goal was to encourage families to get outside and become active, while also engaging in literacy.

Since then, it’s spread to hundreds of cities across the country. The Phoenix Public Library created its first StoryWalk at Cesar Chavez Park in March 2021, and provided resources and guidance for this project.
