See and be seen at PhxArt First Friday!

October programming includes:

A BlakTinx Dance Festival pop-up performance (7–7:45 pm)

- This dynamic showcase will feature six dance groups, highlighting a diverse mix of styles including contemporary, modern, hip-hop, and salsa.

Live artmaking with Lehmann Emerging Artist Award recipient Omar Soto

- Step inside Omar Soto’s creative process and learn how the artist collaborated with costume designers, makeup and nail artists, hair and clothing stylists, jewelry makers, painters, fabricators, and models to craft the elaborate, staged photographic scenes on view at PhxArt. Guests are invited to ask questions, meet the makeup artists and stylists, and sketch models as they strike poses that loosely recreate scenes from Soto’s photographs.

The unveiling of Arizona’s own Scrollathon artwork + meet-and-greet with Scrollathon participants

- PhxArt partnered with artists and Scrollathon-founders Steven and William Ladd to engage community organizations across the Phoenix Metro region in creating a large-scale community-made artwork as part of the nationwide Scrollathon project. Celebrate the premiere of this collaborative artwork, which will be acquired into the Museum’s permanent collection, and interact with some of our community partners who helped create the installation.

Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce meet-and-greet

- AZHCC reps will be tabling on-site to share more about community and cultural events aimed at helping start and finance new businesses.

Free admission.
