Details
A special First Friday dedicated to the work of renowned artist Eric Fischl. The evening will celebrate his artistic legacy and invite visitors to explore the human figure through a range of interactive artmaking activities. In collaboration with Phoenix College students and faculty, the Museum will offer opportunities for creativity, reflection, and connection.
Figure it Out: Join Michel Zajac (Adjunct Faculty, Art History / Visual and Performing Arts, Phoenix College) for a live drawing activity, exploring and simplifying the human figure with gestured lines and ambiguous shadows. No experience is needed!
Master Class: Inspired by two dynamic exhibitions on view: Florentine Baroque: The Hakouhl Collection and Eric Fischl: Stories Told, Chris Vena (Adjunct Faculty, Life Drawing/Figure Painting, Phoenix College and 2021 Lehmann Artist Award recipient) will dive into chiaroscuro, the dramatic effect of light and dark that add emotion and realism into a work of art.
Aileen Martinez will take you on a drawing adventure inspired by Eric Fischl’s experimental techniques of the 1970s and ’80s. Stitch together stories through line and transparency as you build layered, imaginative compositions that explore connection, association, and visual narrative.
Watch creativity come to life as Phoenix College digital artists showcase their cutting-edge techniques in a live demonstration of imagination and innovation.
Vibe to music with PhxArt Resident DJ J-ME LEE.
