Details

Kadomatsu literally means “gate pine.” It is a traditional Japanese decoration placed in pairs at the entrance of homes, temples, and businesses during the New Year season. Its purpose is to welcome ancestral spirits or deities (Toshigami-sama) who bring good fortune and blessings for the coming year. Kadomatsu are typically displayed from the end of December through January 7th. Included with general admission.
