January’s Book of the Month is the autobiography Bad Boy by Eric Fischl, the renowned American painter, sculptor, and rebel. Selected to provide deeper insight into his exhibition Eric Fischl: Stories Told, which is currently on view at PhxArt, this memoir explores the life of an artist famous for painting compelling portraits during an era when Minimalism reigned supreme. Bad Boy provides an intimate look at Fischl's storied career, from his dysfunctional suburban childhood in 1950s and 60s Phoenix to his rapid rise in the colorful, seedy New York art scene of the 1970s and 80s.
