Join Museum Docents for an in-depth exploration of a single work of art. These 30-minute, interactive gallery talks spark connections and conversation about the featured object’s history, meaning, and relationship to other works in the collection.

During World War II, Executive Order 9066 authorized the forced removal and incarceration of those deemed threats to national security. More than 125,000 people of Japanese descent were confined in internment camps—including members of Kelly Akashi’s family. After a visit to the Poston War Relocation Center, Akashi created this artwork of assembled objects as an homage to her family's journey of resilience. Join docent Hannah Palmer Thomas as she reflects on this powerful display. Included with general admission.
