Throughout the evolution of jazz, the trumpet player has often been the source for many of the great compositions that have shaped the idiom. Their works frequently become 'the standards,' performed and recorded by numerous artists and ensembles from trio to jazz orchestra. The Superstition Jazz Orchestra (SJO) will present a concert of arrangements by composer/arranger Mike Crotty, based on the works of renowned jazz trumpet players, including Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Tom Harrell, Woodie Shaw, Randy Brecker, Roy Hargrove and others. Please join the SJO for an evening of big band jazz that promises to be both enriching and entertaining. $25.
