The evening kicks off with a one-hour screening of the 2018 Cuban film Huberal, directed by Jose Galino, exploring the musical life of Huberal Herrera. Features compositions by Ernesto Lecuona, a friend of George Gershwin, in Spanish with English subtitles. Afterward, soprano Ana Maria Ruimonte performs Lecuona's songs recorded in Cuba with the maestro Huberal, blending African rhythms, European classical elements, and US musical theatre influences.
