Having worked on some of Downtown Phoenix’s most transformative projects, how has your journey shaped your vision for the Convention Center as a catalyst for connection and opportunity?
I've witnessed a significant transformation in Downtown Phoenix, driven by passionate individuals who saw its potential. My vision centers on these dedicated people invested in the Phoenix Convention Center's success.
As Director of one of the nation’s top convention centers, how do you see the Phoenix Convention Center reflecting Downtown Phoenix’s culture and diverse communities on a national stage?
Our team ensures that visitors to the Phoenix Convention Center enjoy an authentic experience. Guests can immerse themselves in local culture through public art, local cuisine, and hospitality. We're within walking distance of museums, James Beard award-winning restaurants, theaters, sports venues, and the incredible Roosevelt Row. We feel a memorable experience is the best souvenir our guests can take home with them.
During Black History Month, how can large civic spaces like the Phoenix Convention Center help elevate Black history, voices, and economic impact in Downtown Phoenix?
The Phoenix Convention Center has proudly been the home to the Annual AZMLK Awards Breakfast for the past few years. It’s an inspiring way to welcome the new year while preparing for the month-long celebration of the Black community’s contributions to society. As part of a network of large civic spaces, I feel that part of our collective mission is to provide a platform to amplify the message of the Black community and how crucial the community is to the success of a city.
