Park(ing) Day in Phoenix by Park(ing) Day Phoenix
Watch parking spaces become public spaces this Friday in Downtown Phoenix.
Park(ing) Day began in San Francisco as an experiment in the repurposing of public spaces. Since then, this annual event has gone global, and we celebrate it right here in the core of our city.
By turning metered parking spaces into public parks, gardens, campgrounds, and even a life-sized chessboard, this day makes you rethink the way we use our streets and inspires conversations about how we can create sustainable, urban public spaces.
I’ll be celebrating Park(ing) Day this Friday on Washington Street between 1st and 2nd avenues (right in front of City Hall) from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.—alongside my friends and community members.
The Downtown ASU community will also be celebrating this day, but along 1st St. between Taylor and Fillmore streets.
Join us and see Downtown Phoenix’s street transformed into lively, public spaces!
