Tree Moving

Central Station, Downtown’s major bus and light rail depot adjacent to Civic Space Park, is currently under construction, and a new mixed-use development is on its way. But prior to breaking ground April 13, everything on the 2.6-acre site needed to go, including the mature landscaping.

Downtown Phoenix Inc.’s Clean + Green Team stepped in to lead the tree removal process, as part of a larger salvage effort in conjunction with the City of Phoenix, Valley Metro and the developers behind the Central Station project.

About the Downtown Phoenix Core

The Downtown Phoenix Ambassadors are a service of Downtown Phoenix Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization. The Ambassadors are funded by an assessment on all property owners within the 90-square-block area of the Enhanced Municipal Services District also known as the Downtown Core.

The Core service boundaries are Seventh Street on the east to Third Avenue on the west, and Fillmore Street on the north to the Union Pacific tracks (south of Jackson Street) on the south.

Founded in 1990 as the Downtown Phoenix Partnership (DPP), the Core was formed to strengthen Downtown Phoenix development, and to encourage an environment of activity, energy and vitality. To accomplish this, Core funds provide a variety of enhanced municipal services within the 90-square-block, including the Downtown Phoenix Ambassadors and Clean + Green teams. DPP became an affiliate of Downtown Phoenix Inc. in 2013, and merged into one nonprofit in 2022.
