Zombie Walk 5 returns to Heritage & Science Park in Downtown Phoenix on Saturday, Oct. 26 and to help you prepare for the horde, here’s a list of frequently asked questions surrounding this epic event.











What the heck is a Zombie Walk?
Great question! Zombie Walk is a five-year-old Downtown Phoenix Partnership-born tradition that sees over 10,000 citizens of the undead put on their best zombie faces for a 1.2-mile en masse shuffle through the heart of Downtown Phoenix.  The walk, led by the Downtown Phoenix Ambassadors, Arizona Ghostbusters, Zombie Walk 5’s King & Queen, the Department of Zombie Defense and KUPD’s John Holmberg, will depart from the park at 5:30 p.m.
Do you need to be a licensed zombie to participate?
No. In fact, novice and professional zombies of all ages are encouraged to attend the day-long festival that takes place at Heritage & Science Park from 2-11 p.m. Don’t know how to be a zombie? Read on!

Will zombie consultants be available?
Yes. Anyone who brings non-perishable food items to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank is entitled to a FREE zombie makeover courtesy of Zombie Walk 5 volunteer makeup artists and the Arizona Ghostbusters. If you desire something more “next level zombie apocalypse” on your face, they’ll be a variety of for-hire makeup artists on hand to help you achieve your zombie goals. The Arizona Humane Society will also be on hand accepting items from its Shelter Wish List. Zombies are never given enough credit for their charitable hearts.
Can I bring my kids to Zombie Walk 5?
Absolutely. Zombie Walk 5 was recently named Best Family-Friendly Flesh-Eating Festival by Phoenix Magazine and even offers a dedicated Little Zombie Zone from 2-9 p.m. Sponsored by Bookmans, Little Zombie Zone will offer a multitude of extrasensory activities for your mini monsters, including a Plants vs Zombies game, arts and crafts, mascots from Downtown’s sports teams, and even a 50-foot fire truck (you know, just in case this zombie attack really gets out of hand).
Where should I park?
Downtown’s metered parking is free on the weekends, plus our friends at CityScape are offering $5 zombie parking in their garage. Arizona Center’s garage is another nearby $5 option.

What bands are playing Zombie Walk 5?
This year’s main stage offers a little bit of everything for music fans: Free Ride In a Mason Jar (Alt-Country and Americana / 3 p.m.), Soul Power (R&B / 4:30 p.m.), Recipe for Disaster (Guns ‘N’ Roses Tribute / 7:30 p.m.) and headlining zombie enthusiast rockers Powerman 5000 (Heavy Metal / 9:30 p.m.).
If human flesh isn’t really my thing what do I eat and drink?
Crust Restaurants will be selling scrumptious Italian fare and a special blood orange Zombie Walk 5 sangria, Four Peaks Brewery will be pouring its award-winning brews and a variety of vendors will be happy to sell you everything from ice cream and caramel apples to burgers, hot dogs and fry bread. Zombie Walk 5 also offers the finest selection of brains anywhere.
Where can I keep the party going after the festival closes at 11 p.m.?
We understand that zombies tend to be night owls so there ‘s no shortage of after parties, including zombie soirees at Heritage & Science Park’s own Rose & Crown Pub, multiple spots at the Arizona Center, Coach’s Corner Grill, Gypsy Bar, Copper Blues, Alice Cooper’stown and Hard Rock Cafe that will all rage until 2 a.m.
This sounds great but it must cost a fortune to attend, right?
Wrong. Zombie Walk 5 is completely, totally and unabashedly FREE to attend.
