From a modern taqueria to a local bike shop — Downtown has welcomed several businesses and restaurants to its doorstep in recent months and will continue to in the coming months. Excitement around them is building, but in case you missed it, here’s what’s new(ish) to Downtown Phoenix.
The Velo – 828 N. Second St.

Bike enthusiasts are now an easy ride away from a repair and cup of brew at The Velo Bike Shop and Cafe, which opened in January. Whether you’re in need of a tune-up or free wifi, The Velo is your place.
Fractured Prune – 50 W. Jefferson St., Ste. 100
This create-your-own doughnut concept hails from the east coast and is now open inside CityScape. Tucked inside of the The Corner (formerly Chloe’s Corner), Fractured Prune lets you customize your doughnut with various glazes and toppings.
Paz Cantina y Tauqeria – 1101 N. Third St.

Paz Cantina y Taqueria opened in November bringing tacos, tortas and other specialities with a modern twist to the Roosevelt Row Arts District. With $3 margaritas every day and all-day breakfast, Paz is a welcome addition — just check out this rave review on azcentral.
Tommy Pastrami – 201 E. Washington St., Ste. 109
Tommy Pastrami has been serving up delicious pastrami and corn beef sandwiches sandwiches, chili, salads and more inside the Collier Center since November. This New York-style delicatessen is perfect for the rushed city dweller who wants quality food quick.
The Croft – 22 E. Buchanan St.

A unique special events venue, The Croft, quietly opened this month in the warehouse district, featuring 10,000 square feet of space, cement floors, bow-truss ceilings and an outdoor patio. The venue is full-service with a design team as well as catering, entertainment and audio experts on-site, making it the perfect location for weddings and other celebrations.
Rice Paper – 202 N. Central Ave.
Finding fresh, quality Vietnamese food is no hard fete thanks to Rice Paper underneath the Hotel San Carlos. The restaurant replaced Bonjour Vietnam in November of last year and offers the same menu as their other location in central Phoenix. The restaurant offers pho, banh mi sandwiches and bun noodle salad, and it makes for a great dining experience with abundant patio space and floor-length windows.
Grind House Coffee – 1028 Grand Avenue., Ste. 6

Make sure to stop by Grind House Coffee, one of the newest additions to the Grand Avenue area in downtown. They opened up in September of last year serving coffee roasted on-premises by Morning Bell Coffee Roasters. The coffee shop has free wifi, lots of patio space for those beautiful spring days and pastries made on-site.
Luv Bridal and Formal – 803 N. Seventh St.
This Australian bridal shop opened its Phoenix showroom inside the beautiful red-brick building on 7th and McKinley streets this month. Brides-to-be can book their appointments online. P.S. They’re having a grand opening sale through March 8.
The Lab – 818 N. Central Ave.
A new coworking space is now open on Central Avenue near Garfield Street, offering space to those who would otherwise work at home or in coffee shops. Memberships free wi-fi, workspace, community kitchen and more.
FEZ– 105 W. Portland St.

Formerly located in uptown Phoenix, FEZ moved to its new location in Downtown Phoenix in January. It’s the same great people and menu with an upgraded space that happens to have a beautiful patio.
Eos Fitness – 1 E. Washington St.
Formerly Gold’s Gym, Eos Fitness took over the space this month.
Welcome Chicken + Donuts – 1535 E. Buckeye Rd.

Just a bike-ride away from downtown, there’s also a new fried chicken-and-donut concept going on at Welcome Chicken + Donuts, which opened in November of last year.

The list doesn’t end there — these businesses are expected to open in the coming months. Vintage store Antique Sugar is making the move downtown. The eastern-European style bar, Milk Bar, will be opening soon. Desoto Central Market is expected to open this March. Orange Theory Fitness will open within the next few months at CityScape. Mornin’ Moonshine will bring Japanese-style, infused cold brew soon to the building at 111 W. Monroe St. Yoga studio Sutra Midtown is coming downtown with Lux Commonwealth and County to open up nearby. Songbird Coffee & Tea House will soon be moving into its new location inside a historic home on Third Street near McKinley Street. Plus, downtown is getting a new vegan eatery, Vegan House, any day now.
