We’ve got pizza. We’ve got pasta. And we’ve even got Cornish pasties. But there’s one thing the Downtown Phoenix dining scene has been missing — poke bowls.
Until now, that is.
On Monday, Aug. 21 — seafood lovers can enjoy another fresh and healthy food option downtown when quick-serve concept Ahipoki Bowl opens its doors at CityScape Phoenix.
While the neighborhood is home to a handful of popular sushi spots like Harumi and Squid Ink Sushi, Ahipoke Bowl is the first restaurant of its kind in downtown, serving traditional Hawaiian poke bowls.
Made up of scoops of sushi-grade raw, cubed fish served over a bed of rice or greens — poke (pronounced poh-kay) is making waves across the nation, capturing the hearts of fish-loving foodies along the way.

And with the growing buzz of downtown coupled with its prime location, Ahipoki Bowl is looking to corner the market, according to managing partner Jason Jantzen.
“Being the first (poke restaurant) in Downtown Phoenix, it was super important to be in the epicenter of everything that’s going on,” Jantzen said.
He noted CityScape’s proximity to major sporting arenas, hotels, and concentration of downtown businesses as key selling points in choosing the location.
The menu is simple and follows the popular build-your-own format. Diners can choose from a regular ($9.50) or large bowl ($11.50) with a base of rice, greens or both.
A regular bowl comes with two scoops of fish and the large comes with three.
The fish options include salmon, shrimp, marinated tuna, octopus, yellowtail, scallops and more. Additional scoops can be added for $1.75. A wide selection of house-made sauces are available to add extra flavor.
Diners can also choose from a variety of healthy toppings to garnish each bowl including edamame, pickled ginger, masago (fish eggs), crab salad, daikon radish sprouts and many more.
Colorful macaron ice cream sandwiches and Thai iced teas are also available.
Ahipoki Bowl will be open daily from 10:45 a.m.-9 p.m. with plans to extend hours during CityScape events.
To celebrate its opening, all bowls will be 50 percent off on Friday, Aug. 25 at the CityScape location.
