If you’ve ever had a hankering for some oysters while hanging out in Downtown Phoenix, you’re in luck. A brand new speakeasy-style cocktail and seafood bar called Pigtails is now open at CityScape, and it’s the perfect hideaway for a midday drink.

Located at 1 E. Washington Street, Pigtails is the latest concept from the owners of The Whining Pig — a popular nearby wine bar known for its extensive draft beer menu. The new space is unique to Downtown Phoenix, in that there is a small seafood bar that opens up directly to Central Avenue, and can be seen through the large glass window.

Downtown diners will be able to order directly from this space, or they can follow the neon “cocktails” sign above the kitchen door, following it through to the dark and cozy bar within.

Featuring a living wall of leafy green plants and a taxidermy javelina hanging from the wall, the bar is long and inviting, and the surrounding tufted-leather booths invite visitors to get comfortable and kick back with a cocktail… or two.

While Pigtails, like its sister concept Whining Pig, features a strong selection of beers, it’s the long list of spirits and creative cocktail menu that shine.

Those looking to quench their thirst on a cocktail won’t be disappointed by the offerings at Pigtails. The drink menu is separated into themes: light and citrusy; cool and nerdy; refreshing and fun; bold and boozy — and each of signature drinks was created by Pigtails’ team of bartenders.

Stand out drinks include the Black Hog Down (sotol, montenegro, creme de cacao and mole bitters); the Pebbles Flipstone (Nikka gin, grapefruit, cream, lemon, cherry-infused bruto and fruity pebbles); and The Haboob (Bluecoat gin, honey, lemon, mint and Sweetz cold brew).

Pigtails features a raw seafood bar with fresh oysters, shrimp cocktails, seasonal ceviches and a chilled salmon spread. Shareable plates include chips and dip, baked burrata, avocado hummus, flatbreads and more. The menu also features a crab Louie salad, a shrimp salad po’ boy, a hot ham sandwich and more.

Be sure to follow Pigtails on Instagram for updates, specials and behind-the-scenes shenanigans.
